Gerald Olin Finley, 77, pleaded not guilty to murder and felonious assault during his arraignment Monday in Mason Municipal Court.
Finley is accused of shooting Vinokur in the head with a handgun, according to an affidavit.
Warren County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a person with a gunshot wound around 3:15 p.m. Sunday at Deerfield Twp. Fire Station 57 in the 3000 block of West U.S. 22.
Crews attempted life-saving efforts, but Vinokur died at the scene.
Deputies detained a person of interest, later identified as Finley, who was on scene. He was charged with felonious assault and murder following questioning, according to the sheriff’s office.
Finley remains held on $200,000 bond in the Warren County Jail. He is next due in court Sept. 16 for a preliminary hearing to determine whether his case should proceed to a county grand jury.
